Awards

How do I recommend someone for an award?

This is a question heard far too often in the Society. Some people don't even know that anyone can recommend someone for an award. Making an award recommendation is as easy as writing a letter to the Crown or the Barony, stating who may be deserving of an award, and why. You don't need to be a Peer, hold an office, have an award, or even be a member to make a recommendation!

Anyone can recommend anyone else for any type of award. Although awards are bestowed by the Crown, Coronet (if the area is a Principality) or the local Baron/Baroness, the entire system depends upon recommendations from members of the populace to bring to light deeds that are deserving of attention.

To make a recommendation to the Baronage of Arn Hold for an award (kingdom or baronial level), please fill out this google form.

Please ensure that you have the following information at hand before starting:

  • SCA name of person being recommended.
  • What they have done to be worthy of recognition. Be as specific as you can about ways the candidate has been of service to the Barony and/or Kingdom. If they hold an office, include how long they have held the office, and what improvements they have made to it.
  • Which award(s) you feel are appropriate for this person (optional).

Items that are not necessary, but may be helpful:

  • Their persona; for example, are they primarily Spanish? Viking? 15th century German? Be as specific as you can.
  • Awards and titles they currently hold, even if they were awarded somewhere else.
  • How long the person has been involved with the SCA (estimations are ok).
